AF1 Launches Fan Council To Elevate The Voice Of Its Fans

Arena Football One (AF1) is excited to announce the creation of the AF1 Fan Council, a league-wide initiative designed to bring the perspectives and ideas of fans directly into league decision-making. The council will provide a structured platform for fan feedback on everything from game-day experiences to broadcast and digital content.

The Fan Council will consist of two representatives from each member team, selected by the teams through contests, nominations, or other processes. The group will meet monthly via Zoom during the season, providing ongoing insights to enhance fan engagement and the overall AF1 experience.

Jerry Kurz, AF1 CEO, and Christie McEwen, AF1 President of League and Team Operations, will lead the sessions, drawing on their experience running the successful fan council during their years leading the Arena Football League (AFL). This structure is designed to ensure diverse fan representation, allowing voices from different markets and backgrounds to be heard.

“Our fans are the heart of AF1,” added McEwen. “The Fan Council will give them a seat at the table to share ideas and feedback, helping us create the best possible experience in every market.”

Kurz added, “We’ve seen firsthand how valuable a fan council can be. “By leveraging the lessons we learned in the AFL, we can build stronger connections with our fans while making decisions that truly reflect their needs and passions.”

AF1 Commissioner Jeff Fisher emphasized the importance of fan involvement in the League’s continued growth.  “Engaging directly with our fans is essential to building a strong and sustainable League,” said Fisher.  “The AF1 Fan Council creates a meaningful way for us to listen, learn, and evolve while keeping our fans at the center of everything we do.”

The AF1 Fan Council will explore topics such as game-day entertainment, digital content, merchandise, community outreach, and league branding. Members will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for fan promotions, broadcast enhancements, and interactive experiences across all AF1 platforms.
